Why did the house dems refuse to meet with Republicans?

InvisibleHand asked:

Before all you liberals say that i am lying and fox news told me so, read this statement by Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Judd Gregg:

“Immediately after receiving the final reconciliation bill language, Senate Republican staff was ready and willing to meet with Senate Democratic staff and the Senate Parliamentarian to discuss the fact that the House reconciliation bill may be brought down by the 310(g) point of order in the Senate. Senate Democrats are mysteriously unavailable until after the House votes on the health care bill tonight. The Senate Democrats appear to be pushing off this meeting so that House Democrats will remain in the dark about what is likely to happen to the reconciliation bill on which many have staked their careers in Congress. House Democrats should be alarmed by this latest development, since the survival of the reconciliation bill is clearly at risk in the Senate.”

This one is not too hard to figure out. . . nor is it surprising giving their behavior in regards to this bill so far. They will stop at nothing. . . even the destruction of their own careers apparently, to get this passed.

Kinda makes you wonder what they’ve been promised in exchange for this little piece of “legislation”, doesn’t it?

    You’re joking right ?

Democrats have spent the last YEAR “meeting with Republicans”, while the Repukes, in turn have done everything they can to obstruct a meaningful debate / discussion / discourse.

    Wake up dude.

Well maybe they did and maybe they did not. Why should we take the word of a Republican Senator as to what happened or motives behind it if this did occur? Gregg is a Republican, so not unbiased in his evaluation.

The Democrats met with Republicans hundreds of times. Even though Democrats made many concessions to Republicans, they gained no support for the bill, which was, in the end, very much like what many Republicans originally claimed they wanted. ?°)

Yeah, you are right, the connies, have always had the best interest of all americans, especially the democrats in the house and the senate, in mind. I am sure they would not make stuff up, “death panels” for example.

Communism does not require bi-partisanship. Get ready for a take-over. This disastrous Health Care bill is an open door for more problems to come!
